The Police on Tuesday afternoon recovered the school bus that was stolen at the gate of an Abuja school earlier in the day and arrested two suspects in connection with the incident.
The recovery of the bus was confirmed in a statement by the Force Public Relations' Officer, CSP Frank Mba.
The police confirmed that hoodlums, at about 7.45 a.m., had hijacked a Toyota Hiace school bus belonging to The Vine International Academy, Nyanya. The incident was reported by the driver who said he dropped the pupils off and was cleaning the bus when three armed men took the keys away.
The bus was recovered by police operatives attached to the Nasarawa Police Command along Lafia Road in Nasarawa State. Two of the three suspects were also arrested: Victor Essien, 40, and Ubong Bassey, 49.
Inspector-General of Police, IGP MD Abubakar, commended his men for a job well done and reassured Nigerians of the enhanced state of security in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and its environs.
