Strong earthquake strikes north of Puerto Rico


A strong magnitude 6.5 earthquake hit north of Puerto Rico just after midnight early Monday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey reported.
The epicenter for the quake was in the Atlantic about 60 miles (96 km) northwest of San Juan.

There were no immediate reports of damage. No tsunami warnings or watches were issued.
